Brochure will help bring in the cash

A glossy brochure has been produced to help attract cash pledges for a multi-million pound project in a Bradford village.

Outline planning permission was given for the development at Littlelands in Cottingley in January.

The Cottingley Cornerstone Centre project, which has won the support of Prince Charles, involves demolishing buildings in the village centre and building a church, hall, surgery, other facilities, authority offices and housing.

It is hoped the brochure will kick-start a national fundraising campaign to raise the estimated £4.8 million required to carry out the project.

The church's vicar, the Reverend Canon Sue Pinnington, said the brochure had been possible thanks to its sponsors, ranging from architects to Bradford Council.

Mrs Pinnington said: "This is the next step really. Applications have gone out to the big funders but we are also looking to get the message out across the Bradford district, West Yorkshire and beyond."

It is hoped that around £1 million will be raised by the public and the rest will be raised through various grant applications and by selling the houses that would be built on the site.

The Telegraph & Argus revealed last December how Prince Charles had sent a personal undisclosed donation to help fund the ambitious plans.

Mrs Pinnington said: "The brochure details everything about the project, including the letter we were sent by the Prince of Wales.

"It also includes a breakdown of costs and designs for the project."

The brochure will be sent out to local and national funding bodies, as well as churches and other organisations.
