Oakworth Under-7s A started well in their game against Queensbury and took the lead through Peter Kus after a great pass from Callum Holmes. Despite having the majority of the play in the first half, with Ben Reeve playing well in midfield, they could not increase their lead. Mid-way through the second half Oliver Huck increased added a second but Queensbury soon replied Oaks managed to hang on for a 2-1 thanks to a superb team effort. Ross Meegan and Ben Wedge were outstanding in defence with Daniel Roche and Oliver Huck sharing the man of the match award.  more...

Huddersfield YMCA 20 Keighley 15 - This important league game ended in confusion and controversy when, with the issue very much in doubt, referee Alex Murphy abandoned proceedings with six minutes play plus stoppage time remaining. He had, apparently, earlier warned both captains of his intention if tempers did not improve, but had issued no yellow or red cards as he struggled to maintain control of a robust but not overtly rough contest. Keighley are now considering an appeal for the match to be replayed, since they are mathematically still in the hunt for promotion.  more...

Nemesis `A', runaway Champions in Division One of the Keighley & District Table Tennis League, for once were not allowed to have everything their own way by a resilient visiting Embassy `B' in their final match of the season. Mark Land wrapped up the League averages with a confident treble, defeating Tony Boyd 15-13, 12-14, 11-8, 11-7; Mathew Mellor 12-10, 7-11, 11-3, 13-11 and Geoff Grange 11-9, 11-9, 11-8, but Embassy struck back hard with wins for Grange against Steve Taylor 11-2, 11-7, 5-11, 6-11, 11-5 and Katie Lightowler 11-5, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5 followed by successes for Boyd and Mellor also against Lightowler. Not until the doubles did Nemesis manage to ensure victory as Taylor and Land combined to see off the challenge of Boyd and Grange 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 11-5 as the Champs wrapped up a season that has seen them win every single match, the final one by the narrowest of margins.  more...
